Jiwaji University was come into existence in 1964 as a teaching and affiliating University. The University was started with 29 affiliated colleges and at present it has more than 100 colleges.
Post-Graduate teaching and research was started from 1966 with the set up of Schools of Studies in Botany and Zoology. In 1987, the University also started MBA course through the School of studies in Commerce.
M. Phil Studies in Sociology and Political Science was offered through a center established in 1990.
