In the year 1904, It was established as Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls In the year 1923, it became a co-ed high school because of a merger with the Cookman Institute of Jacksonville, Florida. After one year, the school has affiliated with The United Methodist Church and became a junior college by 1931 and known as Bethune Cookman College.
