The Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) was recognized by an Act (No.27 of 2002) of the lawmaking meeting of the Govt. of Tamil Nadu to profit persons who have been poor of & without the admission to higher education specially needy, Handicappers, working men & women, cheaply weaker parts of the civilization, & those who stopped education for different reasons  etc. In the most important, it plans to arrive at the till now unreached.
