The University of Jammu, attributed as ‘A’ Grade University by National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India came into survival in 1969 vide Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following split of the other University of Jammu and Kashmir. The University provides instructions in such branches of education as it deems fit and makes condition for research and the spread and diffusion of knowledge. The University stands for religious and cloth elements in life, thirst for knowledge and good quality under the background of holy peaks of Trikuta Hills. University of Jammu holds examinations, grants degrees, generates knowledge and confers varied academic distinction on persons who follow approved courses of study in the University or in constituent colleges/institutions approved for the purpose also for those who come into view as external/private candidates. It also confers voluntary degrees or other distinctions on the persons of excellent quality. The University also admits, maintains, recognizes, affiliates colleges and other institutions. It is mainly a research, education, affiliating, probing body involved in help of arts, science and other brushwood of learning. The University is open to all classes and creeds with the sole objective to carry people from darkness to light.
